The Rockford Fire Department maintains a full-time, professional staff of 336 personnel. This includes 275 sworn members and 61 non-sworn personnel. The Rockford Fire Department protects approximately 64 square miles of the City of Rockford. In 2023, Rockford Fire Department responded to over 32,500 calls for service. 

The mission of the Rockford Fire Department is to protect the lives and property of our community through fire, emergency medical, and life safety services.  Our department is composed of  11 fire stations that house nine engine companies, four aerial companies, and seven advanced life support (ALS) ambulances.  Additionally, we have a training facility, and our Headquarters building which houses the administrative offices and the City's 911 Center.
